The Viva! Project

In 2006-2007, ArtsBridge served a second year as the United States hub for transnational research in Community Arts and Popular Education through the Viva! Project. In December, Vera Caldas (MA, Art) accompanied the program director to Chiapas, Mexico to present on the ArtsBridge community development model to colleagues from Canada, Mexico, Panama, and Nicaragua. This collaboration spans the continent focusing primarily on Central and North American universities and community art projects. Given dynamic regional immigration flows, the project provides scholars and artists the rare opportunity to work regionally across communities to study arts education and social justice issues. The 2006 gathering was held at the Universidad de la Tierra.
